Cultural Awareness

Cultural Awareness

E ngā iwi, tēnā koutou katoa. E ai ki te kōrero: ‘Whāia te iti kahurangi; ki te tuohu koe, me he maunga teitei’. Pursue the highest ideals; if you must submit, let it be to a lofty mountain.

Cultural awareness starts with understanding the value of who people are and where they come from. By developing cultural competency, individuals will gain a universal skill that gives them the ability to respect diversity in all contexts and create an open and welcoming environment for all.

Our approach

Our aim is to solidify the skills your people need to function effectively, and respectfully when working with and treating people of different cultural backgrounds.

Our workshops are tailored to meet the needs of your people, integrating cultural awareness in an authentic and meaningful way. Participants will:

  • Build their understanding of Aotearoa New Zealand as a culturally diverse population
  • Through Te Ao Maori (Maori worldview) learn how to integrate the concepts of diversity and inclusion into how they work and live
  • Consider how our own culture and belief systems influence our interactions with others, from both an individual and company perspective.
  • Reflect on how mutual respect and understanding is the foundation of positive outcomes for all.
  • Understand that Aotearoa New Zealand has a culturally diverse population

Organisational Benefits

Our experience shows organisations that authentically embrace cultural awareness increase their capacity for creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. Benefits include the ability to attract a talented workforce, increased growth opportunities with diverse clients and deep personal growth for individuals.

Information on specific learning outcomes of each of our leadership modules is included in our Leadership Development brochure.
