Helping Engage Pasifika Communities
Skills is always looking for ways to enhance access to training and opportunities
With this in mind, a Pasifika strategy fono (or meeting) was recently held at our Auckland offices, to improve the ways in which we reach out to Pasifika communities up and down the country. We were joined by representatives from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), the Ministry for Pacific Peoples (MPP), the Ministry for Women and Careers NZ, among other industry training organisations.
The discussion was closely linked to the Tertiary Education Commission’s ‘Pasifika Operation Strategy’, which is currently being implemented. As Skills works with education authorities to improve access to training and qualifications for students, we are committed to seeing this strategy succeed.
The meeting explored how the different Skills departments can engage with Pasifika communities across the country, and there were lots of ideas. Everyone at Skills looks forward to seeing more plans put into action, and the results of our efforts over the coming months.
